Job Description
Beverly Public Schools believe that a well-balanced and nutritious meal is essential for a child's overall well-being and academic success. We are seeking a Kitchen Worker to join our team to provide each student with an appetizing and nutritionally balanced meal made from high quality foods in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

Must have prior food service experience, preferably in a school lunch program setting

Must be familiar with the use and care of all kitchen equipment including, steamer, meat slicer, kettles, ovens, mixers, and warmers

Must be familiar with operating a POS cash register and able to maintain accurate account of each sale, and able to balance cash drawer at the end of the shift

Must be able to take initiative to clean up kitchen areas, sink area, equipment, supplies and food storage areas without the need of constant reminders

Must exhibit a positive attitude and professional manner compatible with the culture of the school as set forth by the principal even in disagreement

Must have a proven record of working as a team player and the willingness to help others complete tasks to make sure meals are served on time

Must be able to work quickly and accurately according to work routine

Must be able to read, write and follow directions and recipes and able to perform simple math functions
Working Conditions

Frequent standing and movement with regular bending and twisting of neck and trunk, reaching, stooping, kneeling and/or crouching

Continuous use of hand strength for grasping tools

Occasional lifting and/or moving of objects up to 40 pounds

Occasional exposure to temperatures above 90 degrees

Meeting deadlines with severe time constraints

Interacting with students, vendors and staff members
Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Compensation
-
Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Public Schools Cafeteria Employees collective bargaining agreement.
Employment Eligibility

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Pre-employment physical examination is required, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
