Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator specializing in Excavator operation to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavators and other construction machinery to perform excavation, grading, utility work, and site preparation activities. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects while adhering to all safety regulations and company standards. Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery such as loaders and bulldozers to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and utility installation tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Follow construction plans and specifications accurately to execute site grading, trenching, and utility work with precision.
- Locate underground utilities using utility locating equipment to prevent damage during excavation activities.
- Adhere strictly to federal construction safety regulations, equipment safety procedures, and site safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with construction site setup, including positioning machinery, preparing work zones, and coordinating with team members for efficient workflow.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and project progress for accountability and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating excavators in a construction environment, with a solid understanding of heavy equipment operation principles.
- Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance routines to ensure equipment longevity and safety.
- Ability to perform construction utility work including utility locating and trenching with accuracy.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment systems such as hydraulics, engines, and attachments like loaders or Caterpillar machinery.
- Strong understanding of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety regulations governing heavy equipment operation.
- Construction site experience with familiarity in grading, excavation techniques, and construction utility work.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring safety compliance on-site.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating machinery in various weather conditions.
