Public Safety & Nightlife Security Officer (Part-Time, Full-Time & Seasonal)

Position Overview
RSC KC, LLC is hiring Security Officers for part-time, full-time, and seasonal opportunities within the Power & Light Entertainment District—one of Kansas City’s most dynamic and high-traffic environments.
This role combines public safety and nightlife/event security responsibilities, offering the opportunity to work in both day-to-day operations and high-energy event settings. Ideal candidates are dependable, professional, and thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining a safe and welcoming atmosphere for guests, staff, and tenants.
Pay Rate
$17.50 – $21.50 per hour (based on shift, assignment, and experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property and venues
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and identify suspicious activity
- Monitor crowd behavior and assist with crowd control during peak times and events
- Enforce property and venue rules, policies, and safety procedures
- Check IDs and manage access control points as assigned
- Provide customer service by assisting guests with directions and general information
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies
- Support emergency evacuations and medical responses when needed
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and event staff
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely incident reports
Qualifications & Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Security License
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills required
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Previous security, customer service, or event experience preferred (not required)
- Ability to read and write detailed reports
- Must have reliable transportation
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable working in crowded, loud, and high-energy environments
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to respond quickly and move throughout large venues as needed
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and peak event times
Licensing
- Must meet state and company security licensing requirements
- Training may be provided for qualified candidates
