Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans.
- Plan menus that incorporate nutritious ingredients, variety, and appealing presentation to encourage healthy eating habits.
- Handle food preparation tasks including cooking, grilling, braising, poaching, and food production for high-volume service.
- Follow strict food safety protocols, including sanitizing procedures, proper food handling, and hygiene standards to ensure a safe dining environment.
- Assist with meal portioning, plating, and serving to children and staff in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas to uphold health standards.
- Collaborate with dietary department staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies as required.
Skills
- Proven experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide within a food service setting.
- Strong culinary skills including menu planning, food preparation, knife skills, and high-volume production experience.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures essential for maintaining hygiene standards.
- Experience with various cooking techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and catering.
- Familiarity with food handling regulations and safe serving practices in a childcare or similar environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with a positive attitude towards supporting children’s nutritional needs.
