Position Summary
The General Laborer position at QVortex Chemical plays a key role in supporting daily operations within our chemical production facility. This position is responsible for assisting with manufacturing activities, shipping and receiving, forklift operation, equipment inspections, facility upkeep, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and willing to perform a variety of tasks to support efficient plant operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the manufacturing and packaging of chemical products according to established procedures.
- Operate and monitor scales to ensure accurate readings and measurements.
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move raw materials, finished goods, drums, totes, and other materials throughout the facility.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Handle shipping and receiving activities, including loading, unloading, and verifying incoming and outgoing materials.
- Clean and prepare drums, totes, containers, and equipment for production use.
- Maintain facility cleanliness through sweeping, housekeeping, and organization of work areas.
- Perform general facility maintenance and support activities to help ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with inventory movement and material handling as needed.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a strong safety mindset and immediately report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
- Keep work areas neat, organized, and free of debris.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic mathematical skills, including simple arithmetic calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous forklift operating experience.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, chemical, or industrial environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to climb stairs safely.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to work in a production and warehouse environment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other PPE as required.
Work Schedule
- Work Location: 751 NW 1st Lane, Lamar, MO
- Monday through Thursday: 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- Overtime may be required based on business and operational needs.
Benefits
Starting pay is $20.00 per hour with additional consideration for candidate’s knowledge, experience and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
