House Manager I (Live-In)
Job Description
The Bonnie’s Place, House Manager I Volunteer role requires that an individual permanently lives in our homeless shelter with families. Bonnie’s Place serves 5 homeless families with children at any given time. The shelter program is run as a family community that embraces a respectful, substance-free, and safe environment for our families to regroup and thrive toward self-sufficiency.

· Live rent-, utility-, and Wi-Fi-free of cost.
· House is centrally air-conditioned.
· Off-street parking and yard.
· 10 vacation days annually (not required to be in the shelter/working).
· Fridays and Saturdays off
· On duty 5 days per week, Sunday through Thursdays:
· Be in the "life space" of the program from 8:00 pm -10:15 pm to support families with chores, manage refrigerators, keep the property clean, prepare bedrooms for a new family, and whatever is needed in the program that night.
· Be present 10:15 pm - 6:00 am in the shelter (asleep). Available for emergencies primarily.
· Be a polite, supportive, and welcoming ambassador to all families and volunteers.
· Be a role model, troubleshoot issues that arise, and communicate clearly via cell phone, text, email, and in person with program staff.
· Keep the apartment clean and allow access by program administrators. Reasons for access: Health and safety checks, fire department inspections, and necessary repairs by contractors. North Star will attempt to provide 24 hours' notice before entering your private space when possible.
· Complete “shift report documentation” nightly.
· Complete headcount at 8:00 pm & 10:00 pm.
· Participate in agency functions and fundraisers.
· Share the work of shoveling, watering plants, taking out trash, and routine house duties.
· Program Participants are never allowed in your personal spaces.
· Personal visitors must be pre-approved.
· No smoking in your space, no drugs, weapons, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.
