Overview
Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatcher, where you'll play a vital role in coordinating and managing road transportation operations to ensure smooth, efficient freight movement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your organizational skills, technical knowledge, and customer service expertise to keep our logistics running seamlessly. As a key communicator between drivers, clients, and internal teams, you’ll drive operational excellence while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and industry best practices.
Duties
- Coordinate vehicle dispatching by assigning freight loads using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software
- Manage real-time GPS and GIS data to monitor vehicle locations and optimize routes for efficiency and safety
- Communicate effectively with drivers via phone calls and internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and support
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and shipping & receiving protocols during all dispatch activities
- Maintain accurate data entry of shipment details, delivery schedules, and driver logs using Microsoft Office tools and transportation management systems
- Handle customer service inquiries related to freight status, delivery times, and logistical concerns with professionalism and clarity
- Collaborate with supply chain teams and 3PL (third-party logistics) providers to coordinate shipping schedules, freight pickups, and deliveries
Requirements
- Proven experience in road transportation operations, logistics, or dispatching roles with strong understanding of transportation planning principles
- Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, GPS tracking systems, and vehicle dispatch software
- Knowledge of DOT regulations governing commercial vehicle operations and safety standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes
- Excellent communication skills with phone call management expertise and phone etiquette awareness
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Data entry accuracy coupled with analysis skills to interpret logistical data effectively
- Experience working within transportation management systems (TMS), shipping & receiving processes, and freight coordination is highly desirable
