Jupiter Surf Lifesaving is a fast-growing beach sports club for kids aged 5–14 based at Jupiter Beach Park, Jupiter, FL. Every Saturday we run ocean-based surf lifesaving (Nippers) sessions that teach children beach awareness, rescue techniques, ocean safety, CPR basics, and physical fitness — all while building confidence and a love of the sea. We are modelled on the world-class Australian and South African surf lifesaving traditions and are building something special here in Jupiter.
This isn’t a sit-and-watch coaching role. Our sessions are fast-paced, hands-on, and run right on the beach and in the water. We need someone who lives for the ocean and genuinely loves helping kids grow.
As a Surf Lifesaving Coach you will lead or assist our Saturday Nippers sessions on the beach, helping children develop essential ocean safety and lifesaving skills in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Delivering structured, age-appropriate surf lifesaving sessions for Nippers aged 5–14
- Teaching beach sprints, board paddling, water rescue techniques, flags, and ocean awareness
- Introducing basic first aid and CPR concepts to older age groups (U12–U14)
- Maintaining a safe, supportive, and high-energy session environment at all times
- Setting up and packing down equipment (rescue boards, tubes, flags)
- Communicating clearly with parents and supporting volunteers on the day
- Progressing children through skill levels and tracking their development

The right person is someone who is fully bought in: passionate about surf lifesaving, energetic on the beach, and genuinely invested in the kids they’re coaching. If you’re looking for a casual weekend gig where you clock in and clock out, this isn’t the right fit.
Must-haves:
- Strong swimming ability and comfort in open ocean conditions
- Experience working with children in a coaching, teaching, or leadership capacity
- Current or ability to obtain Lifeguard / First Aid / CPR certification
- High energy, great communication, and a natural ability to connect with kids
- Reliable — Saturday sessions are the heartbeat of our club; commitment is non-negotiable
- Passion for the ocean, surf, or beach sports
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time, hourly-paid role. Sessions run on Saturday mornings at Jupiter Beach Park (South side, Ocean Trail Way). Timing varies by age group but generally falls between 7:30 AM and 12:00 PM.
- Saturday Nippers sessions (year-round, weather permitting)
- Occasional weekday planning or skill development sessions may be offered
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (discussed at interview based on experience)
- Opportunity to grow with the club as we expand our program
