Job Summary
Northwest Oncology & Hematology is seeking a pharmacy technician for our in-office dispensing service. In addition to filling prescriptions you will assist patients with completing prior authorization and obtaining copay assistance with foundations and drug manufacturers. The applicant should possess excellent customer service skills, organization and attention to detail. This is a fast paced position that requires excellent multitasking skills.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy operations, with specialized knowledge in medication preparation, and patient care within a specialty pharmacy setting. As a Specialty Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate medication dispensing, maintaining compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, and delivering exceptional patient service. Responsibilities
- Accurately enter new prescriptions in pharmacy software system, adjudicates, resolves any third-party rejections, and submits prior authorization to third-party plan when necessary
- Assist with medication dispensing, verification, and labeling processes to ensure accuracy and compliance and adheres to proper procedures for hazardous Oncology medications
- Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information, proper physician authorization
- Maintain thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, including state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation, and medical terminology relevant to specialty medications.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries, explaining medication instructions, and ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Provides excellent customer service at pick-up window including providing medication and accepting copay payment
- Addresses and/or triages incoming calls, emails, and other forms of communication to the proper department or team member
- Assists patients with copay assistance via foundation enrollment, manufacturer copay card or a payment plan
- Monitor inventory levels of specialty medications and supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions and timely reordering to prevent shortages.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate medication processes for patients requiring complex or high-risk therapies.
- Uphold all safety standards related to pharmacological medical terminology, pharmacological interactions, and acute care procedures.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a pharmacy technician in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care or clinical pharmacy environments with knowledge of specialized medication therapies.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems along with strong data entry skills for accurate recordkeeping..
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required; active state registration required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pharmacology.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality while providing compassionate care.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
