GENERAL MANAGER
POSITION PROFILE
We're looking for a friendly, fastidious, and dedicated General Manager for Le Petit Pali Laguna Beach. The ideal candidate will expertly oversee the front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, property maintenance, and overnight teams — ensuring a delightful guest experience and our signature trusty service. This dynamic role is ideal for a hospitality-driven individual who understands the 24/7 nature of managing a hotel and enjoys leading a nimble team.
ABOUT LE PETIT PALI LAGUNA BEACH
Le Petit Pali Laguna Beach is a 41-room coastal inn offering bespoke lodging, layered with genuine charm, comfort, and unexpected luxury. We are nestled on an idyllic stretch of Laguna Beach, overlooking the Pacific’s lush coastline, steps from Treasure Island Beach, Goff Cove, and some of California’s finest hiking and biking. THE TASK AT HAND:
- Directing Team Members:
-
Ensure the hotel operates in keeping with the Company’s unique approach to the community and authentic, service-driven hospitality.

Promote a positive work environment and ensure all employment-related processes comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
-
Participate in daily and weekly property inspections and ensure completion of follow-up items.
-
Lead the property Safety Committee and oversee compliance with all related safety requirements.
-
Hire, train, supervise, coach, and counsel team members to ensure consistent performance, diligent follow-through, and accountability.

Be knowledgeable in all HR-related processes as well as labor and OSHA laws. Ensure compliance.

Conduct performance management evaluations and support team members in their ongoing development.

Drive guest satisfaction by maintaining product and service quality standards, including regular property inspections, ensuring completion of brand and Company training programs, and initiating corrective action as necessary.

Ensure team members maintain proper appearance and adhere to uniform policies.
-
Verify that ongoing communication is happening within all departments (e.g., pre-shift briefings, team meetings).

Maintain adherence to Front Desk, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Operations manuals; ensure all SOPs, policies, and service standards are followed.

Set goals and expectations for team members using the performance review process that holds staff accountable for successful performance.

Accept responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of the hotel guests and employees.

Respond appropriately in any emergency or safety situation and comply with all local codes and ordinances.

Communicate follow-up actions to team members as necessary.

Meet regularly with the Senior Director of Hotel Operations to review staffing, morale, disciplinary matters, and employee development.

Conduct monthly Front Desk team meetings and weekly meetings with Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, and Repairs & Maintenance teams.
Managing Guest Experience:
-
Continuously improve and maintain the guest experience.
-
Review guest feedback with the leadership team and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken for both positive and negative reviews.

Respond to and resolve guest problems and complaints promptly.
-
Stay visible and interface regularly with guests to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
-
Coach team members on guest recovery and service excellence.
-
Achieve quarterly TripAdvisor review goals.
-
Achieve monthly/quarterly/annual online review goals of 4+ (TripAdvisor, Google, Expedia, Hotels.com, Booking.com) and create action plans to improve as needed.
Property Maintenance & Housekeeping:

Monitor condition of properties, cleanliness, cost control, and quality of product and service.
-
Conduct comprehensive daily/weekly walkthroughs with housekeeping, housemen, and maintenance team members.

Ensure furniture, fixtures, and all property items are maintained to hotel standards.
-
Ensure all cleanliness, maintenance and styling standards meet expectations at all times.
-
Oversee preventative maintenance and regularly scheduled cleaning programs. Ensure all property tracking tools for the PM program are in place.

Obtain quotes and resolve repair needs on an ongoing basis.
-
Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
-
Work with the Company’s Design Studio Manager(s) to facilitate ongoing FF&E requirements.

Lead monthly housekeeping and maintenance review meetings.
Property Cost Control & Managing Revenue Goals:

Monitor Operations performance against budgets.
-
Manage property departmental checkbooks on a weekly basis.
-
Review labor standards weekly to ensure satisfactory controls are in place.
-
Focus on maximizing the financial performance of the department.
-
Coach and support the operations team to effectively manage occupancy, rate, wages, and controllable expenses.
-
Ensure property repairs and upgrades are completed cost-effectively and on time.
-
Lead monthly cost review meetings with department heads.
-
Confer with the Controller on an ongoing basis.
Financial Reporting and Owner Relations:

Work monthly with the Senior Corporate Director of Operations and the Accounting department to publish financial packs.

Represent the property operations team on monthly ownership calls.
-
Develop positive owner relationships.
-
Support development of the annual operating budget and provide timely monthly analysis of financial results.
Food & Beverage:
-
Monitor F&B performance against budgets weekly; manage departmental checkbooks.

Explain monthly cost variances and implement processes to improve.
-
Oversee all Food & Beverage operations to ensure excellent guest service, quality control, and maximized departmental revenue and profitability.

Ensure all service standards and protocols are followed for both front- and back-of-house staff.
-
Address guest concerns quickly and professionally.
-
Develop and implement cost-saving and profit-enhancing measures as appropriate.
-
Review, prepare, and update forecasts as needed.
-
Assist the Events Manager in planning, organizing, and executing special events.
-
Work with the Corporate F&B team to develop and refine menus.
-
Interview, select, train, coach, and counsel all F&B team members.
-
Submit photos and social media content, meeting all deadlines.
-
Ensure online reviews are responded to on time.
-
Ensure all opening and closing duties are conducted on time and to company standards.
-
Host regular F&B team meetings in conjunction with F&B leadership.
Sales & Marketing:
-
Maintain active involvement in Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management functions, with a focus on key metrics (RevPAR, ADR, Occupancy).

Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing leadership team to develop and execute effective room sales strategies.
-
Remove obstacles to success and ensure appropriate resources are in place to achieve business results.

Previous Senior leadership level hotel management experience required
