Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly with semi-trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all equipment is safe and operational. The CMV Mechanic will also provide excellent customer service to clients, ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of CMV equipment to identify mechanical issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various truck and trailer models.
- Execute brake repairs, air brake adjustments, and tire services as needed.
- Operate heavy equipment safely while performing repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Utilize soldering techniques for electrical repairs on CMV systems.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their tractor and trailer needs.
- Assist in training junior mechanics or apprentices when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while working.
Requirements
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, specifically with trailers or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Experience in diesel engine and truck repair with deployable knowledge of: Hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems; Fuel and exhaust systems; Cab and body components; Coupling Devices; Tires, Steering and suspension systems; Frames and Axle beams on commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively interact with clients.
- Ability to perform soldering tasks for electrical repairs.
- Experience working in a mechanic shop environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in brake repair and tire service techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
