Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Hollow Metal Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding hollow metal components used in commercial and industrial construction projects. Your expertise will ensure precise, high-quality welds that meet strict safety and industry standards. Duties
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding specifications and fabrication requirements
- Perform welding operations using various techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding, adhering to AWS (American Welding Society) standards
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld sheet metal and other metal materials into components for ductwork, frames, doors, and other hollow metal structures
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math, and schematics to ensure precise measurements and proper fit-up of parts
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and rigging equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts accurately
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols, including proper handling of tools, equipment, and materials; adhere to OSHA standards and ASME codes & standards
- Collaborate with team members on construction sites or fabrication shops to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining quality standards

Skills
- Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety protocols and site-specific requirements
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and interpreting mechanical blueprints for fabrication tasks
- Skilled in various welding techniques: MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, gas metal arc welding; familiar with welding standards where applicable
- Ability to operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math tools effectively for precision work
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop processes including pipe threading, soldering, plasma cutting, press brake operation, machining and assembly
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication including ductwork and sheet metal materials; capable of working with diverse metal types in accordance with AWS standards
- Familiarity with rigging practices for lifting heavy components safely; proficient in using hand tools and power tools for fabrication tasks
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards for manufacturing pressure vessels or structural components; understanding of schematics and technical drawings for accurate assembly
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately while applying shop math principles for measurements and calculations
- Strong safety awareness with a commitment to following all safety protocols during welding operations and material handling
