Duties
- Design and implement dynamic lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities or developmental needs
- Utilize instructional modifications and accommodations to meet diverse learning styles and abilities, including those who are deaf or visually impaired
- Incorporate educational technology tools and learning technology to enhance engagement and understanding
- Conduct assessments, standardized testing, and progress monitoring to evaluate student achievement and inform instruction
- Collaborate closely with special education teams, therapists (speech therapy, behavioral therapy, music therapy), parents, and other stakeholders to support student success
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies tailored for students with special needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, IEP goals, behavioral data, and compliance records in accordance with educational regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; advanced certifications or specializations in special education are highly preferred
- Proven experience working with children or students with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or sensory impairments
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and childhood education best practices
- Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional design, lesson planning, and educational compliance laws such as IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behavior management for students with diverse needs
- Excellent communication skills for effective parent communication and team collaboration
- Experience integrating educational technology and assistive devices into daily instruction
- Ability to adapt teaching methods based on individual student IEPs and instructional modifications
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies to support academic growth in literacy, math, physical education, and recreational therapy activities
