Who We Want
The Support & Advocacy Specialist serves as a key support resource for HIPsters, families, and staff. This position coordinates medication administration, behavioral support, family communication, and classroom support.
How You Can Add Value
This role helps ensure HIPsters receive consistent, person-centered support while serving as a resource to staff and families.
Essential Functions
· Administer medications.
· Maintain MARS documentation.
· Complete weekly medication counts.
· Create and update medication schedules based on doctors’ orders under the guidance of the nursing team.
· Maintain behavior documentation.
· Assist staff with behavioral interventions and de-escalation.
· Provide classroom and campus support to HIPsters.
· Serve as a liaison with families regarding support needs.
· Assist with documentation review and follow-up actions.
· Support compliance with agency, HHSC, and safety requirements.
Competencies
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Knowledge of positive behavior supports
· Strong organization and documentation skills
· Ability to collaborate with staff, families, and clinical teams
· Commitment to person-centered practices
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
Two years supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.
· Valid driver's license and insurance required.
· RBT certification preferred.
· CPR, First Aid, AED, HIPAA, and SAMA certification required.
