Medical Director (Physician Governance Role) – Remote, Independent Contractor (California)
Peninsula Grove Health is a small concierge medical practice serving adults on the San Francisco Peninsula. The practice is staffed by an experienced California Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of clinical experience, including advanced practice roles at leading academic medical center. Care focuses on adult mental health, palliative and supportive care with a specialty in cancer support, and midlife women's health through a low-volume, relationship-based model.
About the Role
We are seeking a California based and California-licensed physician to serve in the physician governance role for a California professional medical corporation. The practice is structured in accordance with applicable California law, including the Corporate Practice of Medicine doctrine and Business and Professions Code section 2837.103.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving in the physician governance role for the professional medical corporation in accordance with California law.
- Being available for collegial consultation regarding clinical or practice-related questions, as required.
- Exercising independent professional judgment regarding matters involving the practice of medicine, as required by California law.
What This Role Does Not Include
This position does not involve:
- Direct patient care.
- Routine chart review or chart co-signatures.
- Prescription authorization or delegation.
- On-call responsibilities.
- Day-to-day administrative or business management of the practice.
Compensation
- Monthly stipend (negotiable) as well as any other legally entitled compensation consistent with the corporate structure.
- Professional liability coverage associated with this role will be provided.
- All corporate and contractual documents have been prepared by experienced California healthcare counsel.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted California MD or DO license.
- MD must be based in California (California address)
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred.
- Physicians in academic practice, part-time practice, or retirement are encouraged to apply.
