HVAC Service Manager
Location: Columbus, OH
A1 Mechanical is a residential new construction and service-based HVAC company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with sister companies located in Cincinnati, Dayton, Lansing, and Grand Rapids.
While our primary focus is residential new construction, our Service Department supports homeowners through warranty work, service calls, system startups, and retrofit installations. We are currently seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to lead our Service and Warranty Department. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys managing people while remaining involved in the field. The ideal candidate is a proven service technician with leadership experience, a strong sense of accountability, and a desire to mentor and develop other technicians.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Service and Warranty Department.
- Take ownership of department performance, customer satisfaction, and overall efficiency.
- Assist with hiring, training, and developing service technicians and finish installers.
- Help management identify and meet departmental staffing needs.
- Lead by example by working in the field when needed to support the team.
- Perform residential HVAC service calls, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Assist with retrofit installations as necessary.
- Perform equipment startups and commission newly installed HVAC systems.
- Verify proper operation and performance of heating and cooling equipment.
- Maintain clear communication with customers, builders, field personnel, and company management.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of residential HVAC service experience.
- Previous leadership or management experience is preferred.
- EPA Certification.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to continue professional training and stay current with industry practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in residential new construction HVAC.
- Experience supervising or mentoring technicians.
- Strong understanding of HVAC system startups, commissioning, and warranty service.
