Company Overview
Poznecki-Camarillo is seeking a motivated Survey Technician with strong experience in transportation, municipal, and diverse survey projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid surveying skillset and preferably some knowledge of LiDAR / 3D scanning and/or a strong desire to learn and expand skillset into LiDAR workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to grow technically. The Survey Technician will work under moderate supervision and handle survey computations, mapping, DTM models, drafting, research, boundary work, legal descriptions, plats, data processing, and field crew coordination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist RPLS and survey staff with production and assembly of project deliverables.
- Prepare and revise plans, profiles, and detailed drawings from redlines using CAD software per company/client standards.
- Perform research on record maps, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents.
- Compile data for field crews and process incoming field data.
- Prepare metes and bounds descriptions, parcel maps, boundary maps, and closure sheets.
- Conduct complex surveying calculations and analyze data for accuracy.
- Generate DTM/DEM models and provide GIS survey information.
- Support field survey crews on various survey types (topograhic, boundary, construction, control).
- Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project teams and clients.
- Coordinate effectively with surveying, engineering, and management teams to meet deadlines.
- Maintain organized project files and demonstrate flexibility in assignments.
EDUCATION
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (4 years of relevant experience under RPLS may substitute).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience in Land Surveying and CAD design for transportation, municipal, and land development projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD / Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GeoPak.
- Proficient with GPS and Robotic Total Station equipment.
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and ethics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills.
- Interest in learning LiDAR / 3D scanning technologies.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (LiDAR a Plus)
- 6+ years of CAD experience in transportation, municipal, and land development.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- TxDOT or other DOT project experience.
- Exposure to LiDAR point cloud processing.
- Experience with OpenRoads and collaboration tools (ProjectWise, Bluebeam).
