Lutz Plumbing, Inc. is hiring a Senior HVAC Service Technician.
We're a family-owned, full-service San Francisco contractor with a long track record and a small, experienced crew. We're launching an HVAC division, and we're looking for the technician who is going to build it.
This is a senior seat. You'll run your own truck, take the calls other techs escalate, and have real say in how this side of the business grows. If you've been waiting for a shop where your judgment actually counts, this is it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Diagnose, service, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems: split systems, heat pumps, furnaces, package units, rooftop units, and mini-splits
- Perform system replacements and changeouts, including load considerations, line-set work, and startup/commissioning
- Handle refrigerant work in full compliance with EPA Section 608
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, thermostats, and low-voltage systems
- Complete preventive maintenance visits on service agreements
- Document work accurately in our field service software: photos, findings, recommendations
- Communicate directly with homeowners, property managers, and building contacts
- Help shape how we build out the HVAC side: vendors, processes, and eventually the crew
- Mentor less experienced technicians and set the standard for workmanship
WHAT YOU NEED
- 10+ years of hands-on HVAC service and repair experience
- EPA Section 608 Universal certification
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose independently
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, and on rooftops
- Professional, direct communication with customers
- Authorized to work in the United States
NICE TO HAVE
- NATE certification
- Commercial refrigeration or chiller experience
- Heat pump conversions and Bay Area electrification/rebate program experience
- Title 24 familiarity
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Plumbing crossover experience
