The Woodlands Methodist Church is seeking to hire a full-time organist. The focus of this role is to serve as the church organist for the 7:45 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. worship services. The Organist also serves as accompanist for Chancel Choir and/or Sanctuary Orchestra rehearsals and as the primary accompanist for the Senior Adult Choir. Additionally, the Organist serves as the primary keyboardist for weddings and funerals. This role works in collaboration with central staff and in alignment with The Woodlands Methodist Church’s mission to reach people for Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need.
Essential Functions
Worship Leadership and Support
· Prepare and perform organ music for weekly worship services, including preludes, postludes, hymns, and other assigned service music.
· Support the planning and execution of worship services, rehearsals, and special worship events throughout the church year.
· Prepare all musical materials in advance of rehearsals and performances with a high level of musical accuracy and professionalism.
· Accompany Chancel Choir, Sanctuary Orchestra, soloists, and other worship ensembles during rehearsals and services as assigned.
· Serve as primary accompanist for the Senior Adult Choir (Goldenaires) during rehearsals, performances, and community engagements.
· Serve as primary organist and keyboardist for weddings, funerals, memorial services, and other ministry events as assigned.
· Participate in seasonal and special worship services, including but not limited to Advent, Christmas Eve,
· Holy Week, Easter, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday services.
· Collaboration and Communication
· Collaborate closely with the Director of Traditional Music, worship staff, musicians, volunteers, and ministry departments to support effective worship experiences.
· Maintain clear and timely communication regarding schedules, service details, rehearsal plans, and event logistics.
· Participate in Music Staff meetings and contribute positively to a Christ-centered, team-oriented ministry environment.
· Foster cooperative working relationships through professionalism, flexibility, and servant-hearted teamwork.
· Project and Time Management
· Manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
· Coordinate worship preparation, rehearsal readiness, and assigned ministry responsibilities in a timely and organized manner.
· Utilize Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and designated church systems to support communication and ministry coordination.
· Adapt effectively to changing ministry needs, schedules, and service demands throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in music or related field preferred
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in church music ministry or a related worship setting preferred
· Demonstrated proficiency in organ and piano performance.
· Christian faith and committed to supporting the mission and ministry of the church.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit, stand, lift, reach, and move throughout church facilities as needed
· Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements associated with keyboard performance.
Other Specifications
· Reports to: Director of Traditional Music
· Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
· Schedule: 40 hours/week
Sunday: 6:45am-12:45pm; occasional Sunday afternoon required
Monday and Tuesday: 8:30am-4:30pm
Wednesday: 12:00pm-8:00pm
Hours vary throughout the year; independent playing practice is an expected portion of this position’s schedule
