Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team in a part-time role. This position is ideal for a CPA candidate looking to gain hands-on experience in tax, bookkeeping, and client services in a small firm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist with individual and small business tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S), including gathering and organizing client documentation
- Perform bookkeeping for small business clients, including bank/credit card reconciliations and maintaining accurate general ledger records
- Record journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support payroll processing and preparation of payroll tax filings (e.g., Form 941, W-2s)
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
- Conduct basic tax research using IRS and Pennsylvania resources and apply findings to client situations
- Communicate with clients to request information, clarify discrepancies, and provide status updates in a professional manner
- Assist with amended returns, notices, and client follow-ups as needed
- Maintain organized digital client files and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of financial data
- Provide general support to senior accountants on client engagements and special projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field)
- Intermediate Excel Skills
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with individual or small business tax preparation
- Payroll experience
- Prior internship or public accounting experience
- CPA Canidate
