PURPOSE OF POSITION: FORKLIFT OPERATOR
Perform production support functions. Meet the daily production support requirements deadline by efficiently moving materials, while maintaining pick up deadlines.
SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for reading, understanding and following work instructions pertaining to the tasks of moving materials.
- Perform in a cross-functional environment, coordinating with other departments such Quality, Warehouse, and Materials.
- Safely operate forklift to pick and put away materials.
- Move materials to appropriate locations.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of recyclable materials.
- Assist with bailing materials for recycling processing.
- Ensure accurate inventory management.
- Actively seek ways to improve processes.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in a warehouse or shipping environment.
- Forklift driver is required.
- Good communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Computer literate in a Windows Environment; Outlook, Excel.
- Accurate counting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be self-motivated and possess initiative.
- Flexible; able to change direction with short notice.
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to complete projects under tight deadlines.
- Able to perform repetitive motion with hands and arms.
- Qualified to become certified on a forklift.
- Able to quickly resolve or escalate problems that arise.
- Effective communicator in the English language, both orally and written, as the position requires email communication with customers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Able to stand, stoop and bend.
- Ability to walk and stand on cement floors for long periods.
- Able to operate a pallet jack.
- Able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled.
