Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluation and intake procedures, ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and addiction counseling techniques tailored to each client’s needs.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use disorder recovery, mental health stabilization, and relapse prevention.
- Utilize crisis intervention skills to manage urgent situations effectively, providing immediate support and coordinating with emergency services when necessary.
- Engage in case management activities, including data collection, progress tracking, and medical records documentation using ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate home & community care efforts, hospital-based treatments, and behavioral health services for optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain thorough medical documentation of patient care activities, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and CPT coding for billing purposes.
Experience
- Valid licensure as a Chemical Dependency Counselor with state certification or licensing as required by local regulations.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings with a focus on mental health and substance use disorders.
- Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with crisis management protocols, PTSD care approaches, and social work principles related to mental health treatment.
- Experience working in diverse environments including hospitals, outpatient clinics, or home & community care programs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing, and medical terminology relevant to addiction medicine is essential.
- Excellent communication skills to conduct intake assessments, patient education sessions, and family counseling while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
