OVERVIEW
Inspire, teach, and lead Fort Mill School District’s elementary age children through purposeful afterschool activities in accordance with the FLYERS curriculum. These activities will engage the children to provide quality care and enrichment, meeting the needs of each child’s social and emotional skills. The afterschool teacher will promote growth and nourish curiosity through scheduled experiences to create a future full of life-long learners. Positive, warm, and understanding individuals who seek to make learning come to life will encourage meaningful relationships with the children, families, and their team.
KEY FUNCTIONS

Leads and supervises a group of children through the scheduled afterschool activities

Teaches and models appropriate behavior for children in afterschool care

Facilitates academic, recreational, and enrichment activities

Uses proactive thinking and best practices toward a healthy and safe environment

Helps maintain clean and organized areas and shared school space

Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships

Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to handle multiple tasks

Enjoys working with children in a large group environment

Above average interpersonal skills with strong written/oral communication skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Negative PPD/Tuberculosis Testing

Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train

No staff supervisory responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time and maintain a higher level of activity.
