Job Description: Field Project Manager / Site Manager
Reports To: Operations Management
Work Location: Project Sites (Regional / Nationwide as Assigned)
Position Summary
The Field Project Manager / Site Manager is responsible for directing and managing all on-site activities associated with assigned Gemstone, LLC projects. This position ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract documents, industry standards, and company policies. The Field Project Manager serves as Gemstone’s on-site representative and is accountable for safety leadership, quality execution, and client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Execution
· Manage all daily field operations from project mobilization through closeout.
· Review and execute project scope, specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements.
· Develop and maintain daily and short-term work plans, manpower schedules, and equipment needs.
· Coordinate activities with clients, inspectors, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.
· Monitor project progress and proactively address issues impacting schedule, productivity, or cost.
Safety Leadership
· Enforce all Gemstone, LLC safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety programs.
· Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
· Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices at all times.
· Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
· Promote a safety-first culture consistent with industry-recognized standards.
Quality Control
· Ensure work meets or exceeds contract specifications, project standards, and applicable AMPP / SSPC requirements.
· Coordinate inspections, testing, and documentation related to surface preparation and coating application.
· Maintain accurate quality control records, daily reports, and inspection logs.
· Address deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions as required.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
· Track labor, equipment, materials, and production rates.
· Assist with identifying potential change orders and scope impacts.
· Complete and review daily field reports and required project documentation.
· Support cost control, forecasting, and project closeout activities.
Leadership & Personnel Management
· Supervise field supervisors, foremen, and craft personnel.
· Communicate expectations related to safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.
· Mentor and develop field leadership personnel.
· Coordinate personnel matters with management and Human Resources as necessary.
Client Relations
· Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
· Conduct progress meetings and provide regular updates regarding project status.
· Maintain a professional image that reflects Gemstone’s values and reputation.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or construction education preferred.
· Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in industrial construction, coatings, or related field operations.
· Demonstrated experience managing crews, schedules, and job-site activities.
Certifications (Preferred
· AMPP / SSPC / NACE certifications.
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
· Thorough knowledge of industrial coatings, surface preparation methods, and inspection processes.
· Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
· Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, industrial environments.
Physical & Work Environment
· Ability to work in industrial settings including plants, refineries, marine facilities, and infrastructure projects.
· Ability to stand, walk, climb, work at heights, and access confined spaces as required.
· Willingness to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and travel for project assignments
Pay: $45.00 - $65.00 per hour
