Salary Range: $81,000 - $178,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

We are seeking a Middle School (4th -8th grades) Spanish teacher, starting September 2026, to join a passionate and dedicated language department. The Middle School Spanish program at Dalton picks up where our elementary (K-3) program leaves off and fosters strong levels of proficiency in our middle school students. Through content-rich thematic units, Spanish learners at Dalton interact with language, culture and content in every lesson with real-world themes throughout. We are committed to building inclusive and differentiated classrooms and we seek a candidate who shares that commitment and who can contribute to our efforts. We engage in opportunities for professional growth and encourage reflection on our own practices. Our ideal candidate has experience teaching MS language and can easily teach Spanish as a vehicle through which to learn content. We are looking for someone with native-like proficiency who enjoys teaching Middle School students as young as 4th grade. Experience teaching K-8 FLES, language teaching/methodology training, and understanding of ACTFL standards and proficiency guidelines is a plus. We would be particularly eager to hear about any interest, background, or expertise in the teaching of Afro-Latino cultures.
Responsibilities:

Teach 5 courses (multiple Middle School grade levels);

Design engaging curricula and lesson plans, in keeping with the department communicative language teaching methodology;

Collaborate with others in the department;

Work one-on-one with students daily for support and enrichment in Labs.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred;

Minimum of three years middle and high school teaching experience strongly preferred;

Demonstrated commitment to inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, literary interests, and/or community engagement;

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English;

Facility with relevant educational technologies.
