Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, and root canals.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and digital radiography systems.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care using clear dental terminology.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring a gentle approach to young patients’ needs.
- Support the use of medical imaging tools and operate equipment like the 3D scanner for accurate diagnostics.
- Uphold high standards of anatomy knowledge and dental terminology to effectively communicate with team members and patients.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix is essential for managing medical records and documentation accurately.
- Familiarity with Eaglesoft software, HIPAA regulations, and medical coding enhances your ability to support clinical operations seamlessly.
- Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, infection control practices, aseptic technique, and chairside assisting is required.
- Knowledge of dental specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics will be advantageous for supporting diverse procedures.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology ensures effective communication within the team.
