Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead and oversee the operations of our pharmacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications while providing exceptional patient care and service. This role requires a strong leadership presence, comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy practices, and a commitment to healthcare excellence. The Pharmacy Manager will play a pivotal role in managing pharmacy staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a patient-centered environment that promotes health and safety.
This is a direct hire role fully salaried offering a relocation package to Bakersfield, CA.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.
- Manage pharmacy teams by providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure high standards of patient care and customer service.
- Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications, ensuring aseptic techniques, and maintaining USP 797 standards.
- Conduct patient assessments to optimize medication therapy management, including pediatrics and pain management cases.
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, Drug Regulation policies, and Clinical Confidentiality Policies.
- Maintain accurate inventory management, including procurement, stock rotation, and controlled substance accountability.
- Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for efficient workflow.
- Implement clinical pharmacy services such as immunizations, medication administration guidance, and patient education initiatives.
- Ensure staff adherence to basic life support (BLS) protocols and maintain readiness for emergency situations.
- Monitor pharmacy operations for quality assurance, including adherence to USP 797 standards for sterile compounding.
- Stay current with updates in drug regulation, healthcare compliance standards, and new pharmaceutical technologies.
- Foster effective communication with clients regarding medication use, health concerns, and treatment plans.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes.
Skills
- Must have an active CA Pharmacist License or the willingness to obtain one
- Extensive experience in clinical pharmacy practice with critical care experience preferred.
- Proven ability to manage pharmacy teams effectively within diverse healthcare settings including community and LTC pharmacies.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology principles.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems such as PIS, EMR/EHR platforms; proficiency in inventory management tools.
- Demonstrated expertise in compounding medications using aseptic techniques while maintaining USP 797 standards.
- In-depth understanding of state and federal pharmacy laws governing practice scope and drug regulation.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Ability to interpret medical management plans and collaborate with healthcare providers on medication therapy optimization.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance policies including HIPAA regulations related to patient confidentiality.
- Experience with immunizations administration and pain management protocols.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and documentation processes.
- Ability to practice as a licensed pharmacist while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.
