Looking for a self-motivated, energetic staff member to work in a high volume and fast-paced state of the art new school kitchen. This position follows ELPS Food Service policies and procedures as related to the preparation, serving and distribution of food items and meals. This position requires standing, lifting, bending and cleaning. Experience with congregate feeding is needed for this position.
Compensation is negotiable given the level of prior experience. As a lead, this position also requires basic math calculations and operating the computerized point of sale and the food production software. The ability to efficiently direct other staff and team members is necessary. Daily accurate record keeping is essential as well as ordering food and taking inventory.
ServSafe certification is required to be maintained up-to-date and will be provided by East Longmeadow Food Services. A firm understanding of allergies and safe food handling is necessary. This should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or provide relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.
This requires physical mobility along with a full understanding of sanitation practices. Training is provided. Full job description is on file. Following an offer of employment, and prior to starting work, individuals must have a pre-employment physical examination by a physician designated by the Town of East Longmeadow.
The Food Service Department will pay for the examination. Satisfactory clearance to perform essential job functions will be required for employment. The candidate will be responsible for obtaining and paying for a fingerprint background check. SAFIS (Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services) information will be provided to the candidate and must be completed and cleared prior to employment.
