Overview
Silvergate Prep is currently seeking a full-time certified teacher. This is a seasonal 10 month position. We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Teacher to inspire and educate students across various age groups and learning needs within the behavioral health space. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for fostering academic growth, supporting developmental milestones, and creating an inclusive classroom environment.
Performance Duties
1. Instructional Services
- Collaborates with the school district, the student's classroom teacher(s), case manager, and members of the Special Services Department to assess educational needs and determine appropriate instructional services for students receiving homebound instruction.
- Provides individualized homebound instruction to assigned students in accordance with the approved schedule and educational plan.
- Obtains textbooks, curriculum materials, and instructional resources necessary to deliver homebound instruction through established procedures.
- Assesses student progress on an ongoing basis, identifies strengths and areas of need, and adapts instruction to support academic growth and continuity of learning.
- Maintains communication with the student's regular teacher(s) to ensure instructional alignment with classroom curriculum and assignments.
2. Student Management
- Establishes and maintains a positive, safe, and productive learning environment during homebound instructional sessions.
- Provides written progress reports regarding student participation, achievement, and instructional outcomes to parents/guardians, school personnel, and other designated staff as required.
- Maintains accurate records of instructional sessions, attendance, student progress, and other required documentation in accordance with district and agency procedures.
3. Instructional Planning and Coordination
- Develops and implements an individualized instructional program for each assigned student in consultation with the student's regular teacher(s) and school personnel.
- Participates in meetings and conferences as needed to support student educational continuity and successful transition back to the school setting when appropriate.
- Requests, reviews, and maintains familiarity with applicable student educational records, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans to ensure instructional services are delivered in accordance with the student's educational needs, accommodations, modifications, and mandated supports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Possession of a valid New Jersey Standard, CEAS, or CE Teaching Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment (e.g., Teacher of Elementary School, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, Teacher of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, school personnel, and community agencies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience providing individualized instruction, tutoring, special education services, or homebound instruction preferred.
- Experience working with students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or educational challenges is preferred.
