Duties Description As a Certified Peer Specialist in the Kingsboro PC ICM Program you would provide direct mental health services to recipients in emergency, inpatient, outpatient, community support programs, and residential settings. You would serve as a role model for recipients and educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group process; teach them effective coping strategies, sometimes based on personal experience; assist them in clarifying their goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and help them to develop support systems. As a Certified Peer Specialist you would perform a range of tasks designed to assist recipients in regaining personal control over their lives and over their own recovery processes. Your tasks would focus on facilitating the development of self-help skills, support systems, coping strategies, and the increased hope and self-esteem that are central to recovery from a psychiatric disability.
Team operates in all five (5) boroughs of New York City.
70% of the case management work is in the community where clients are located.
Minimum Qualifications Candidate must have certification as a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB).
Driver's license is required to operate a state fleet vehicle.

Candidate will be required to navigate NYC public transportation and subway system. Fleet cars available as well.
This position is eligible for a down state adjustment of $4,000.

If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
