Job Summary
The Bilingual Legal Coordinator/Paralegal is responsible for preparing and filing immigration applications to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on behalf of immigrant clients, under the direction of Path to Hope’s Accredited Legal Representative and Attorney staff. This person provides interpretation during client consultations and appointments, ensuring clear, accurate, and direct communication between Path to Hope and immigrant clients. This position is also responsible for answering and returning phone calls, emails, and text messages from prospective clients, current clients, and other immigration legal services (ILS) community members with professionalism, confidence, and warmth. The Legal Coordinator effectively screens and schedules prospective clients for legal consultations at Path to Hope, and/or connects the prospective client with other ILS offices that are positioned to handle their specific immigration matter. This position is directly responsible for increasing our consult and case conversion rate for immigrants who are not in removal proceedings.
The Legal Coordinator is often the first point of contact (first face and first voice) between potential clients and Path to Hope and works to ensure that clients feel welcome, safe, and cared for; this includes ensuring client meeting spaces are ready for appointments ahead of scheduled appointment times and that clients can locate our office. The Legal Coordinator is an excellent communicator who constantly seeks to improve and refine Path to Hope’s client intake and referrals system.
Duties
- Under the supervision of Accredited Legal Representatives and Attorneys, prepares and files immigration applications with USCIS on behalf of immigrant clients.
- Coordinates clients’ arrival at the office and shows them to seats in our waiting area or conference room for their appointment.
- Works with Legal Representatives and Attorneys to conduct efficient and informative legal consultations, follow-up appointments and interview preparation appointments; strives to ensure clients always understand the next step forward in their immigration case.
- Conducts efficient and effective Document Drop Off and Review & Sign appointments for Spanish-speaking clients.
- Answers phone calls, emails, and text messages from prospective and current clients. Screens prospective clients to determine whether to schedule a legal consultation for them at Path to Hope or whether to refer them to another ILS or attorney office. Works with Legal Representatives and Attorneys to promptly return calls and messages from current clients.
- Effectively schedules prospective clients for legal consultations using Acuity and eImmigration.
- Conducts immigrant community outreach events for Path to Hope.
- Constantly improves Path to Hope’s client intake system and develops metrics to track how suggested improvements to this system are reflected in a higher contact: call: consultation: case ratio over time and then integrated into our way of serving immigrant clients well.
- Develops strategy to increase outreach and contacts with prospective immigrant clients in our target market, in coordination with the Site Director and Community Outreach Coordinator.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a law office and/or immigration legal services preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish; ability to interview clients effectively in both languages.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information discreetly while providing exceptional administrative support.
Reports directly to the Director of Path to Hope.

Pay: $23.00 per hour
