The individual is independent in many familiar daily activities but benefits from encouragement, clear instructions, visual supports, and monitoring while developing greater independence. The approved support plan calls for approximately eight hours of IHCS each week.
Responsibilities
- Support the individual with maintaining a structured daily routine and completing planned activities.
- Use written instructions, visual checklists, repetition, and step-by-step guidance when teaching new skills.
- Provide calm, direct communication and allow adequate time to process instructions and make choices.
- Encourage independence with household tasks, laundry, cleaning, personal-care routines, and selecting weather-appropriate clothing.
- Assist with meal planning, following recipes, measuring ingredients, and choosing healthy foods.
- Provide appropriate safety supervision when the individual uses knives, the stove, oven, or air fryer.
- Support safe participation in community activities, shopping, appointments, and social outings.
- Provide transportation to approved community activities when required.
- Help the individual manage changes in routine and situations that may cause anxiety or become overwhelming.
- Maintain appropriate personal boundaries and respect sensory preferences.
- Complete accurate service notes and promptly communicate concerns or incidents according to agency policy.
The individual’s current goals include improving independent cooking skills, safely following recipes, and making healthier food choices.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience supporting adults with autism, ADHD, anxiety, or similar support needs.
- Patient, respectful, encouraging, and able to remain calm during stressful situations.
- Ability to provide support without taking over tasks the individual can complete independently.
- Experience using visual schedules, checklists, modeling, repetition, and positive reinforcement.
- Strong communication, documentation, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable supporting cooking, household tasks, community activities, and skill development.
- Comfortable working in a home with several pets.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to complete all required background checks and agency training.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to maintain a consistent schedule
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
