POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney is assigned to serve as a prosecutor for the State of Ohio in the Clermont County Common Pleas and Municipal/Juvenile Court Division of the Clermont County Prosecutors Office. Primary duties include:
- Representing the State of Ohio in court, including but not limited to the following:
Bond hearings, arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, sentencings, motion hearings, community control violation hearings, preliminary hearings, court trials and jury trials.
Interaction with victims, witnesses, police officer, defense counsel, magistrates, and judges in court.
- Perform legal research for preparation of written motions and memorandums.
- Provide advice to police officers on criminal and traffic charges, investigations and search warrant review.
- Attend meetings of organizations relating to the functions of the office as required.
- Perform such other functions as required by the Chief of the Division or by the Prosecuting Attorney.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND CREDENTIALS
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney’s must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and be strong advocate for the State of Ohio. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys are required to:
- Interact in an ethical, courteous, and professional manner with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, fellow prosecutors, support staff, court personnel, defense counsel, magistrates, and judges.
- Work cooperatively with other employees of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office including, but not limited to, substituting for other assistant prosecuting attorneys as requested.
- Must be self-driven and enthusiastic in professional development.
