The Military Family Readiness Specialist (MFRS) serves as the primary command-level conduit and advocate for the Army National Guard (ARNG) Military and Family Readiness Program. Operating within a secure environment, the MFRS executes and sustains the Commander’s Family Readiness Plan by providing comprehensive information, referrals, crisis intervention, and case management services directly to Service members and their families. Through targeted outreach, community resource networking, spouse employment support, and financial literacy training, the MFRS bridges the gap between military and civilian resources to mitigate deployment-cycle stressors and build family resilience. Additionally, the MFRS is responsible for recruiting and managing Statutory Volunteers, delivering critical military lifecycle and SFRG training to unit Command Staff (including Commanders, Rear Detachment Commanders, and CFRRs), and ensuring 100% of readiness assessments, outreach initiatives, and annual unit information briefings are executed and meticulously logged in the MARRS-FR system of record.
High School Diploma or equivalent, 1-2 years of experience in customer service, community outreach, or family support services. Familiarity with military lifestyle, deployment cycles, and military families. Proficiency in basic office software (MS Office suite). Ability to learn and input data into specialized database systems. Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation. Ability to present pre-packaged briefing materials to small groups.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources related field. Personal Financial Counselor Certification (Fincert.org). 3+ years of direct experience in Military Family Readiness programs (such as ARNG, USAR, or Active Component family support). Knowledge of the Army National Guard (ARNG) structure. Demonstrated proficiency in MARRS-FR and ADPAAS database systems. Proven experience protecting PII/PHI and handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Strong public speaking and presentation skills with experience delivering Command-level briefings and training Commanders, Rear Detachment Commanders, and CFRRs.
Demonstrated experience working with or for a Military organization (i.e.: Service Member, Family Member, Veteran, Volunteer, Retiree, Civilian Employee, and Government Contractor). A strong understanding of the National Guard and their deployment support cycle requirements. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have the ability to gather information and create and maintain PowerPoint briefings. Applicant must be capable for analyzing and making recommendations for program improvement, and has the ability to provide communication (orally and written) to disseminate information throughout the organization. Possess the ability to make oral presentations to various size groups. Must be a self-starter, require minimum oversight, demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills; and possess a current and valid driver’s license.
