Project Manager – Modular Construction
Location: Tejon Ranch, CA / Bakersfield, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid with field visits
Salary: Starting at $90,000+ DOE

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in modular, prefabricated, or offsite construction to oversee projects from early design and preconstruction through manufacturing, delivery, and site installation.

The Project Manager will serve as the central point of contact for clients and internal teams while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate is an organized, technically knowledgeable construction professional who can confidently coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturing teams, purchasing, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from feasibility, design, and preconstruction through manufacturing and site installation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, developers, general contractors, engineers, and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, timelines, and project documentation.
- Coordinate design and engineering activities and resolve construction conflicts during preconstruction.
- Review architectural and construction documents, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection plans.
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, plan revisions, and change orders.
- Monitor project progress, costs, procurement, materials, and schedules.
- Coordinate material takeoffs and procurement schedules with purchasing.
- Work with project teams on value engineering and alternative construction solutions.
- Coordinate communication between design, manufacturing, and field installation teams.
- Monitor projects for quality, schedule, budget, and scope compliance.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
- Maintain comprehensive project records, including plans, reports, photos, videos, and other documentation.
- Identify potential project risks and develop solutions to keep projects moving forward.
- Ensure projects meet applicable building codes, specifications, and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct experience in modular, prefabricated, or offsite construction required.
- 5–10 years of total experience in construction, design, permitting, or related fields preferred.
- 3–6 years of project management experience from concept through project delivery and installation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with single-family and multifamily construction highly preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents.
- Knowledge of building codes and construction practices.
- Experience with estimating, material takeoffs, procurement, and cost control.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and project budgets.
- Strong understanding of project coordination between design, manufacturing, and field installation.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with construction/project management software such as Autodesk Build, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accountability, professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, communicating with multiple stakeholders, identifying problems before they become delays, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

Location Requirement
Candidates must be located within the Greater Los Angeles or Bakersfield area and be able to work from the Tejon Ranch office and/or participate in required field visits.
