A leading, innovative government contractor supporting large-scale government and defense programs is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for a senior management role. As the Assistant Program Manager, you will oversee a large, multidisciplinary workforce and play a pivotal role in mission-critical operations and customer engagement. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a department of 100+ technical professionals, including managers, supervisors, and specialists.
- Oversee all aspects of mission support operations as the Assistant to the Program Manager of a $500M+ government contract.
- Serve as the primary interface with key customers, ensuring exceptional service and proactive issue resolution.
- Direct field operations to achieve daily, short-term, and long-term performance goals.
- Manage staffing, recruitment, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions in partnership with Human Resources.
- Develop and implement training plans to maintain a safe, skilled, and ready workforce.
- Monitor and optimize contract and department budgets, labor, and operational costs.
- Champion quality, safety, and innovation initiatives across the business.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, government regulations, contractual requirements, and collective bargaining agreements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience managing large technical teams in government contracting, engineering, or related environments (8+ years with a Master’s degree).
- 3+ years of experience managing 100 or more people in a technical or professional services field.
- Demonstrated expertise in operations management, customer relations, project management, and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and adapt to evolving requirements.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and compliance in a technical setting.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret security clearance required.

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments, including exposure to extreme weather and weapons system testing.
- Must pass pre-employment background, drug screening, and physical assessments.

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $200,000. Starting salary will be determined based on experience, demonstrated expertise, geographic location, and business needs. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Therefore, actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary slightly from the salary range stated herein.
