Custom Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract opportunity with a leading academic medical center in Birmingham, AL.
This position is within a Cardiovascular Surgery mixed-acuity unit caring for both stepdown and medical-surgical patients.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients across stepdown and medical-surgical levels of care
- Perform ongoing assessments and closely monitor patients for changes in condition
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Provide postoperative cardiovascular nursing care
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols
- Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, physicians, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Coordinate patient care, transfers, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment and recovery
Requirements
- Active RN license eligible to practice in Alabama
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Recent acute care nursing experience
- Cardiovascular, cardiac surgery, telemetry, PCU, or stepdown experience strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips
- Ability to care for a mixed-acuity stepdown and Medical-Surgical patient population
- Ability to begin an assignment ASAP
