Senior CNC Machinist (Cradle-to-Grave) – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Longmont, CO
Pay: Up to $45/hr DOE
Schedule: Full-Time
If you're the kind of machinist who takes pride in owning the entire process—from blueprint to finished part—this is the opportunity you've been looking for.
We're looking for a high-level CNC Machinist with strong aerospace experience who can independently program, set up, machine, inspect, and troubleshoot precision components. This isn't an operator position. We're looking for someone who can walk into the shop, review a print, determine the best machining strategy, write the program, make the part, and ensure it meets tight tolerances.
You'll be working on complex aerospace components where precision, problem-solving, and craftsmanship matter every day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Machine complex aerospace components from raw material to finished product.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
- Select tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining performance.
- Perform first article inspections and verify parts meet print specifications.
- Make program edits and optimize cycle times.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with engineering and quality to produce high-precision components.
- Maintain tight tolerances while producing high-quality parts.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive CNC machining experience in an aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC equipment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or similar).
- Strong understanding of G-Code and CNC programming.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and interpret GD&T.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or other aerospace materials.
- Comfortable holding extremely tight tolerances.
- Strong inspection skills using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and indicators.
- Self-motivated with the ability to solve problems independently.
Preferred Experience
- 5-axis machining experience.
- Multi-axis programming.
- Prototype and low-volume/high-mix manufacturing.
- Experience in AS9100 or ISO-regulated environments.
- First Article Inspection (FAI) experience.
- Continuous improvement and process optimization.
What You'll Get
- Up to $45/hr depending on experience.
- Opportunity to work on challenging aerospace projects.
- Modern equipment and advanced machining technology.
- Stable, long-term career with a growing aerospace manufacturer.
- Collaborative team where highly skilled machinists are valued for their expertise.
If you're a true cradle-to-grave machinist who enjoys programming, problem-solving, and producing precision aerospace components, we'd love to talk with you.
