We prioritize fast and financially affordable legal services for our clients. Our firm is a general practice firm and our practice areas include: family law, local government law, estate and probate, civil and business litigation, business law, real estate law and basic criminal law (traffic).
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Associate Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in various areas of law, including but not limited to estate planning, environmental law, and family law. This role requires excellent negotiation skills and the ability to handle a diverse caseload while providing exceptional legal services to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various cases, utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and agreements with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings across multiple areas of law including local government law, civil law, family law, and real estate law.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategies and case management.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may affect clients' cases.
- Provide legal advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations under the law.
- Maintain organized case files and documentation within the law office environment.
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admitted into the NC State Bar.
- Demonstrate empathy and legal knowledge of the law.
- Attention to details and ability to manage multiple cases at once.
- Proficient in legal research.
- Ability to work independently, along with the ability to work well as a team.
- Must be able to multitask and effectively handle stressful environments.

The salary range for this role is competitive and will be based off the candidate’s legal experience and knowledge. Medical and Life insurance are both covered 100% by the firm at no cost to the employee. Our 401(k) benefits begin one (1) year after employment and will include a monthly contribution by the firm each month.
Spence, Carter & Reed, P.A. is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. We do expect our attorneys to work full-time in the office (Smithfield, NC) and the attorneys do at times work outside these hours to meet client needs and deadlines.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
