Position Summary
DEI Power is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Foreman to supervise employees involved in manufacturing custom switchboards, panelboards, RPPs, and other power-distribution equipment.
The Production Foreman will work closely with the Plant Manager to organize daily production activities, assign work, monitor employee performance, maintain quality standards, and ensure projects are completed according to schedule. This position requires a strong floor leader who is comfortable giving clear direction, holding employees accountable, and addressing performance or attendance concerns promptly and professionally.
The ideal candidate has experience supervising employees in an electrical-equipment, switchgear, metal-fabrication, industrial-control, or general manufacturing environment. The Foreman must be able to read production drawings, understand job requirements, identify potential delays, and keep employees focused on completing quality work safely and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide daily direction to production employees.
- Assign work based on project priorities, employee skills, production schedules, and required completion dates.
- Review job folders, drawings, bills of material, panel schedules, and project requirements before work begins.
- Confirm employees have the correct materials, components, tools, drawings, and instructions needed to complete assigned work.
- Monitor employee productivity, workmanship, attendance, safety, and overall performance.
- Hold employees accountable for meeting production expectations and completing assigned tasks on time.
- Address poor performance, repeated mistakes, attendance concerns, and workplace conduct issues promptly.
- Report serious or repeated employee performance concerns to the Plant Manager.
- Provide hands-on coaching and training to improve employee skills, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and regularly inspect work in progress.
- Track the status of active jobs and communicate delays or concerns to the Plant Manager.
- Identify production bottlenecks, missing materials, drawing conflicts, and staffing issues before they affect deadlines.
- Coordinate with engineering, inventory, purchasing, quality control, and project management as needed.
- Ensure equipment is manufactured according to approved drawings, specifications, and company quality standards.
- Verify that completed work is accurate before it moves to the next stage of production.
- Help prevent rework, material waste, damaged components, and unnecessary labor costs.
- Ensure corrections and rework are completed properly and without unnecessary delays.
- Maintain organized production areas, workstations, tools, and material-staging locations.
- Enforce company safety procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and proper material-handling practices.
- Conduct daily production meetings or employee check-ins as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Assist with employee scheduling, overtime planning, onboarding, and job-specific training.
- Monitor labor usage and help ensure employees remain productive throughout each shift.
- Support equipment testing, final inspections, packaging, and shipment preparation when required.
- Provide accurate updates regarding job progress, employee performance, and production risks.
- Assist the Plant Manager with meeting customer delivery commitments and manufacturing deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three or more years of experience in manufacturing, production, assembly, fabrication, or electrical-equipment manufacturing.
- Two or more years of supervisory, lead-person, or foreman experience in a production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to direct employees and maintain an organized production workflow.
- Proven ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to give clear instructions and enforce performance expectations.
- Willingness to address poor performance, attendance issues, repeated mistakes, and workplace conduct concerns.
- Ability to be firm, fair, consistent, and professional when managing employees.
- Ability to read and understand production drawings, bills of material, job travelers, and basic manufacturing documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to recognize production problems and take corrective action quickly.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and changing production priorities.
- Ability to work independently while following direction from the Plant Manager.
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, production schedules, and basic manufacturing software.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to [50] pounds.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising employees at a switchgear, switchboard, panelboard, RPP, electrical-equipment, or industrial-control manufacturer.
- Familiarity with UL 891 switchboard manufacturing or other UL-listed electrical equipment.
- Working knowledge of low-voltage power-distribution equipment.
- Experience with one or more of the following manufacturing functions:
- Switchboard assembly
- Electrical wiring
- Bus fabrication and installation
- Enclosure assembly
- Breaker installation
- Control wiring
- Equipment testing
- Quality inspection
- Packaging and shipping
- Ability to read single-line diagrams, panel schedules, electrical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with Siemens, Eaton, Square D, ABB, or similar electrical components.
- Experience working with project-specific manufacturing schedules and bills of material.
- Experience training production employees and correcting performance or quality issues.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
- Forklift or material-handling equipment certification.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
