Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support warehouse operations at our chemical blending facility. This position is responsible for receiving and verifying shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, preparing outbound orders, and ensuring compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have warehouse experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive incoming raw materials, packaging supplies, and other inventory.
- Inspect shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Unload and load trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Prepare and stage customer orders for shipment.
- Verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, and receiving records.
- Enter inventory transactions and shipment information into the warehouse management system or ERP system.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Label, store, and organize materials according to company procedures and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with production, customer service, purchasing, and transportation providers regarding shipments and inventory needs.
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, environmental, and facility safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready warehouse.
- Assist with other warehouse and logistics duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1–2 years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory control experience.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and inventory systems.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and inventory records.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing, blending, industrial, or hazardous materials environment.
- Knowledge of DOT shipping requirements and hazardous material handling.
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe footwear, and other equipment as required.
