Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational community. Responsibilities
- Support classroom instruction by assisting with lesson implementation, including curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to diverse student needs
- Work directly with students, including those with disabilities, autism, or developmental disabilities, providing personalized support to promote their academic and social success
- Help manage classroom behavior and implement behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
- Assist with early childhood education activities, including literacy education, math exercises, and preschool or toddler care routines
- Facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) when appropriate, supporting students with communication challenges
- Collaborate with teachers on Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and ensure accommodations are met effectively
- Support the development of inclusive curricula aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) standards and best practices in special education
Skills
- Experience working with children across various age groups, including preschool and early childhood settings
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education methodologies such as Montessori or preschool approaches
- Familiarity with special education practices, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, parents, and support staff
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math skills, and curriculum standards
- Experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs, including familiarity with IEPs and accommodations
- Prior private school experience or classroom experience is a plus but not required
