About the Role
We’re looking for a Dog Bather (Grooming Assistant) who takes pride in hands-on work and wants to be part of a fast-paced grooming team.
This role is essential to the grooming process. You’ll be responsible for properly bathing, drying, and preparing dogs so our groomers can deliver high-quality results.
This is a physically active, detail-oriented position that requires efficiency, patience, and confidence handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Responsibilities:
- Bathe dogs thoroughly using appropriate shampoos and conditioners based on coat, skin needs, and owner requests
- Properly rinse, towel dry, and blow dry dogs to grooming standards
- Brush and prep coats to remove tangles, loose fur, and debris
- Safely trim nails and clean ears
- Monitor dogs for any skin issues, abnormalities, or sensitivities and communicate with the groomer
- Assist groomers by holding dogs and supporting the grooming process when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bathing and grooming area
- Clean tubs, tools, holding accommodations, and workstations between each dog
- Handle dogs safely and confidently, including those who may be nervous or resistant
What to Expect
- A fast-paced environment with multiple dogs scheduled throughout the day
- A physically demanding role (standing, lifting, bending, drying, cleaning)
- Getting wet—this is part of the job
- A balance of animal handling, cleaning, and teamwork
- Work that requires both speed and attention to detail
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Ability to lift and handle dogs up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a wet, fast-paced, and physically active environment
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Previous experience preferred, but not required for the right candidate
- Previous experience as a dog bather or in a similar role is required.
- Knowledge of dog breeds, behavior, and basic grooming techniques is beneficial.
- A passion for working with animals and a deep love for dogs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new grooming techniques and best practices.
