The HSSE Professional works closely with the HSSE Supervisor & Manager to plan, implement, and maintain a variety of health, safety and environmental programs aimed at ensuring the highest possible safety standards for Hunter employees. This individual must be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with the operations team.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 6am-4:30pm
Responsibilities:
Include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Ensure that all federal state, and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed.
- Assist in conducting accident/injury investigations and illness exposure monitoring.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control systems, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Coordinate, assist and plan in the safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs.
- Conduct daily inspections to audit conditions and safe work practices. Document all findings both positive and negative and document any corrective action on noted deficiencies. Report all deficiencies to the department supervisor.
- Assist in new employee orientation training.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and deliver a variety of training topics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual (proficient in English and Spanish)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Attend, participate, and lead regularly scheduled meetings.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
- Capable of working independently in a self-directed environment
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma
- HSE regulatory knowledge
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- OSHA 30
- NCCER Construction Site Safety Technician
- Houston Area Safety Council Safety Essentials (SE-SAFE)
- Minimum of 2 years’ safety experience preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift to 30-40 pounds as needed
- Must be able to travel and access all areas of our manufacturing facility.
- Work in an environment with moderate noise levels and varying temperatures
Working Conditions/Environment: An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. At least 80% of his/her scheduled shift should be spent on the production floor.
