Costume Maker (Covering and Sewing Department)
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress/Costume Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction and a passion for creating high-quality mascots. This position involves working with various fabrics and sewing techniques to fabricate mascots that meet our design specifications and company standards. Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to manufacture mascot costumes and accessories according to specifications.
- Perform garment construction tasks, including cutting, sewing, and finishing.
- Ensure all items meet company standards.
- Collaborate with designers and production teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Maintain an organized workspace in the warehouse, ensuring all materials are readily available.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process and make necessary adjustments.
- Covering mascots by draping fabric and using various types of adhesives.
- Repairing mascot pieces, costumes and accessories when necessary.
Experience
- Proven experience in garment construction and sewing techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with operating various types of industrial sewing machines is required (straight stitch, overlock, walking foot).
- Previous experience in a warehouse or production environment is preferred (3 years).
- Advance knowledge of use of hot glue and adhesives.
- Previous experience working with heavy fabrics (faux fur, foam, fleece, etc).
- Education in fashion design, costuming, prop making or special effects.
- Experience on garment alterations and repairs.
- Experience in cosplay, mascot industry or upholstery experience is a plus.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines effectively.
- Expert in drafting patterns.
- Ability to convert 2D designs to 3D costumes.
- Expert in hand stitching.
- Basic knowledge in drafting patterns.
Experience:
- Sewing: 4 years (preferred)
- Pattern Making: 1 year (preferred)
Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
Work Location: In person
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
