Mechanical Designer / Draftsman – Custom Machinery
We are a custom packaging machinery manufacturer seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer / Draftsman to join our engineering team.
This is not strictly a drafting position. The position includes both drafting and mechanical design. We welcome experienced machinery designers who can contribute immediately, as well as candidates with strong mechanical aptitude who are looking to expand their experience in machinery design.
Our machines are designed and manufactured in-house. You will have the opportunity to see your work progress from drawings and prototypes through manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operation on the shop floor. You will work directly with engineering and the people who manufacture and assemble the equipment, providing the opportunity to see firsthand how designs work in the real world.
The position includes work on both new machinery and our extensive library of existing machine designs. Proficiency in AutoCAD is important because many of our existing machine drawings are in AutoCAD and are regularly modified for new applications.
The work is varied and includes modifying existing machine designs, producing finished manufacturing drawings, and designing new machine components, mechanisms, assemblies, and sections of machinery.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in machinery and machine design.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical shop drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to produce accurate, finished mechanical drawings.
- Experience with machinery, automation, manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or mechanical assemblies is a plus.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and management.
Experienced machinery designers are encouraged to apply. We are also interested in candidates with a strong mechanical background who are ready to take the next step from drafting into machinery design.
Compensation will be based on experience and skill level.
