Joe’s Barber Lounge is looking to grow our team. Our shop has been serving the Colchester community for over 80 years, we stay busy offering high-quality cuts in a laid-back, professional environment.
We specialize in classic and modern styles — tapers, pomps, fades, hard parts, flattops, scissor cuts, and beard work. Clipper and scissor skills are both essential. (Note: We don’t use straight razors at this time.)

We’re seeking a motivated barber/stylist who:

- Respects each client’s preferences while guiding them toward their best look

- Confident, humble, artistic, and dependable
About the Shop:
- We maintain a professional image, including attire, and deliver a premium client experience.
- Dress code is stylish and expressive — think modern salon or men's style magazine: clean shoes (no Crocs), ripped jeans with a sharp blazer, flattering dresses and outfits. Professional, but with personality. (Think brands like Guess, Express, BeBe, Lucky Brand).
- The vibe is friendly, upbeat, and welcoming — we have fun and take pride in our work.
- Most of our clients are between 20–40, but we welcome everyone, from kids to seniors.
- Colchester is an affluent community and our clients are generous.
A Plus If You:
- Have experience with beard or hair coloring
- Keep a professional Instagram portfolio and post regularly
- Have a strong interest in growing your personal brand and book
Tools & Products We Use:
- Squire for appointment booking and schedule management
- Classic Koken chairs
- Reuzel, Layrite, and Clubman products
Schedule & Availability:
- The shop is open Tuesday–Saturday, with the potential for Mondays
- Full-time or part-time options available
Qualifications:
- Valid CT cosmetology or barber license (willing to train the right person if still in school, but close to finishing)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in haircutting, styling, and sanitation practices
- Comfort with booking software (we’ll train you on Squire; very easy to learn)
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent service and quality haircuts
- Maintain a clean, sanitary station
- Stay current with trends and techniques
- Collaborate with the team to maintain a positive shop atmosphere
- Respect the time and needs of each client
Compensation:
- Commission
- Growth potential and support to build your clientele
- You keep 100% of your tips

Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year
