Garbage Truck Mechanic will be responsible for performing mechanical and hydraulic repair work on garbage trucks.

Identifies mechanical problems.

Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.

Performs hydraulic and mechanical repairs as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle mechanics.

Excellent mechanical repair skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Willing to learn the operation of a refuse truck.

Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

Proficient with blueprints.

Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

Ability to read work orders and accurately complete documentation.

Ability to follow directions.

Excellent attention to detail.

Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

Must be able to work safely.

Must be able to stand majority of working hours.
