Job Description -
- The CAR-T Nurse Coordinator serves as the primary clinical coordinator for patients undergoing cellular therapy, including Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy and other immune effector cell therapies. The coordinator provides comprehensive care coordination across the continuum of treatment, ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, sponsor, and manufacturer requirements while delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
- The CAR-T Nurse Coordinator acts as a liaison among patients, caregivers, physicians, advanced practice providers, inpatient and outpatient teams, apheresis services, cellular therapy laboratories, investigational pharmacies, and external treatment centers to facilitate safe and timely treatment delivery.
- Essential Responsibilities
- Patient Care Coordination
- Coordinate all phases of CAR-T therapy, including referral, evaluation, leukapheresis, bridging therapy, lymphodepletion, infusion, and post-treatment monitoring.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and caregivers throughout the treatment journey.
- Facilitate timely scheduling of consultations, procedures, imaging, laboratory studies, and treatment appointments.
- Monitor patient progress and identify barriers to care, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Ensure completion of required pre-treatment evaluations and clearances.
- Clinical Management
- Collaborate with physicians and APPs to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Review laboratory, diagnostic, and clinical information to support treatment readiness.
- Assess and triage patient symptoms, adverse events, and urgent clinical concerns.
- Coordinate management of treatment-related toxicities, including cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS).
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient review meetings and treatment planning discussions.
- Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with FACT, FDA, REMS, manufacturer, and institutional requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate completion of required cellular therapy documentation and tracking forms.
- Support audit readiness and regulatory inspections.
- Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to ensure program compliance.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Function as a liaison among inpatient units, outpatient clinics, apheresis services, laboratories, pharmacy, and external providers.
- Facilitate communication with commercial CAR-T manufacturers and treatment partners.
- Participate in multidisciplinary cellular therapy meetings and operational planning sessions.
- Coordinate patient transitions between care settings.
- Patient and Caregiver Education
- Provide education regarding treatment plans, expectations, potential toxicities, symptom reporting, and caregiver responsibilities.
- Reinforce treatment-specific monitoring requirements and emergency precautions.
- Ensure patients and caregivers understand post-treatment follow-up requirements and proximity restrictions.
- Data and Quality Management
- Maintain accurate patient tracking systems and treatment schedules.
- Support outcomes reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor key operational metrics, including treatment timelines and patient throughput.
- Participate in program development and process improvement activities.
- Lymphoma, leukemia- malignant hematology (as long as they have a working knowledge of malignant hematology they should be successful, did not provide min number of years experience this was the response to that question)
- Familiar with Microsoft products
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:
- 2+ years of oncology experience required
- BLS
- RN MA License
Pay: $2,900.00 - $3,200.00 per week
