Position Summary
The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in overseeing all aspects of the in-store Starbucks operation. This position assists with driving sales, delivering an exceptional customer experience, maintaining Starbucks brand standards, managing inventory, and developing associates. The Assistant Starbucks Manager helps ensure operational excellence through strong leadership, product quality, food safety compliance, and effective team development while supporting overall store and department objectives.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
- Assist with overseeing daily Starbucks department operations.
- Ensure compliance with Starbucks operational standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and consistency.
- Support ordering, receiving, inventory management, and product replenishment.
- Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operating efficiently.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment.
- Assist customers with beverage selections, food offerings, and special requests.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Promote customer loyalty through quality products and positive interactions.
- Maintain a culture focused on customer satisfaction and service excellence.
Leadership & Team Development
- Assist with training, coaching, and developing Starbucks associates.
- Support onboarding and ongoing training efforts.
- Help schedule and assign work to ensure efficient department operations.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback to associates.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Starbucks Manager.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
- Monitor proper food handling, storage, and temperature controls.
- Follow all company policies, Starbucks standards, and workplace safety procedures.
- Ensure associates follow required operational and safety guidelines.
Financial Performance
- Support department sales, gross profit, and labor goals.
- Assist in controlling inventory, waste, and shrink.
- Monitor product levels to maximize sales opportunities and minimize out-of-stocks.
- Support promotional activities and sales-driving initiatives.
- Help analyze department performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous Starbucks, coffee shop, food service, retail, or customer service experience required.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work around hot equipment and varying temperatures.
- Ability to operate department equipment safely.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
